Hypodermic solutions for acute care

Consistency you can count on

Every day in an acute care facility brings different challenges and patients. As you adapt, you depend on consistency from your hypodermic needles and syringes—in quality, performance and supply.

From devices designed to advance healthcare worker safety and support safe pump infusions to assessments focused on standardization and risk reduction, BD is committed to providing the high quality hypodermic solutions you can count on, for each patient and every procedure.

The value of safety

The cost of switching to safety-engineered devices (SEDs) from conventional devices isn’t simply a comparison of prices. For needlestick injuries (NSIs), every incident carries potential clinical and emotional burdens for healthcare workers and economic burden for healthcare systems.

Over 1,000 sharps injuries occur every day in U.S. hospitals1

An estimated 5.6M healthcare workers risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens via needlesticks and other sharps-related injuries2

NSI and sharps injuries can transmit infectious diseases, especially bloodborne viruses3

It is estimated up to $1.1B* in costs related to NSI burden the healthcare system every year1**

Preventing NSIs

Take control of healthcare worker safety

The use of safety-engineered devices (SEDs) has been proven to prevent needlestick injuries.

  • 93% reduction in needlestick injuries when safety devices were used. Education and training were key factors4

  • 80% of injection/venipuncture administration injuries that could have “probably” or “definitely” been prevented by safety devices5
